How To Prepare For A HydraFacial, tips by top US beauty blog, Haute Beauty Guide

Recently I’ve received a ton of messages asking how to prepare for a HydraFacial or what to expect at one. Or what a HydraFacial Treatment even is! So I thought I’d write a little guide. Each esthetician does the treatment differently but here are my takeaways from the three different providers I’ve been to.

Hydrafacial is a non-invasive resurfacing and hydrating treatment. There are three different lengths of HydraFacial treatments; 30 minutes, 50 minutes, and 80 minutes. Depending on the length of the treatment will determine how many modalities are included. For example, the 90-minute HydraFacial includes a LED light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage whereas the 30-minute does not. All three are full of amazing benefits and the core three stages of a HydraFacial. Step 1 Cleanse+Peel, step 2 Extract+Hydrate, step 3 Fuse+Protect. By the end of the treatment, skin is clearer, softer, hydrated, and plumper. Most people say their skin glows.

A Hydrafacial improves the appearance of:

  • Oily, acne-prone skin
  • Dry skin
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Blackheads
  • Enlarged and clogged pores

How To Prepare For A HydraFacial

Discontinue any vitamin A/Retinol/Retinoid/Tretinoin products or scrubs or salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Schedule your waxing or hair removal treatments at least a week before your HydraFacial. If you shave regularly or dermaplane skip it the day before and day of your treatment. Make sure you have a proper home care routine after the treatment. Talk with your esthetician to see if you need to add or remove any products to get the best results.

How To Customize Your HydraFacial Treatment

The cool thing about HydraFacial is the customization options. With a 50 and 80 minute treatment, a booster is added. Boosters customize the facial to specific skin concerns. Brightening, peptides, hydrating, firming, calming there is a booster for everything. These add-ons are a great way to see faster results. Perks are another way to customize. These are special tips+serums that are made for the eye and lip area. The HydraFacial lip perk is my favorite pre-event treatment.

What To Do After A HydraFacial

Continue to skip all retinol and vitamin A, waxing, over-the-counter acne products for 72 hours after a HydraFacial treatment. If you aren’t sure just check with your esthetician. The skin may be a bit pink for a few hours that is totally normal and is usually due to blood flow to the skin.

How To Get The Best Results From Your HydraFacial

Homecare and scheduling your next appointment on a schedule are the top ways to see the biggest results. A round of three treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart will give the best outcome. Keeping up with homecare and SPF between appointments will ensure the best results.
