I love bedtime. All the snuggles and books are just the best part of my day. When Olivia was a baby I read a book about creating sleep rituals and I realized how important it was to create a sleep routine for toddlers. She stayed the night with her grandparents last month and had no problem falling asleep because they followed her routine!
Creating a Sleep Routine for Toddlers
As Oliva got older our routine changed. The ritual really starts with dinner. We eat all together and talk about our days and interact as a family. Olivia doesn’t speak much yet but she loves to hold a conversation! After dinner, we do the dishes together and Olivia plays in the kitchen. Then comes bathtime.
We still use the sink and a plastic bin for baths. We also stay together continuing our family time playing with bath toys and talking about plans for the next day. After the bath, I clean up while my husband takes Olivia upstairs to her room and they pick out jammies together. She is really opinionated these days so she likes to make the decision!
Olivia and I climb into bed and apply Evereden baby massage oil and Mulit-purpose Healing Balm to her face. When Olvia was just a few months old I noticed two things— she has SUPER sensitive skin and she sleeps better after a bath+massage. When Evereden first reached out I was scared to try it out. We had only used the same brand since she was born.
I finally decide to try Evereden out when I realized the brand checked a lot of boxes for me. They are California based, women-owned, medical-based and use high-quality ingredients. This massage oil is amazing. The slip is perfect but absorbs fully into the skin. It is now my go-to gift for friends expecting a baby!
After massage time we pop on jammies, read a few books and then cuddle up to watch Coco. Olivia is so sleepy by then that she falls asleep at around the 7-minute mark. 🤣 I love when she wants to snuggle with me to fall asleep. It isn’t every night so I embrace it when it happens.
