BEST PLACES TO TAKE PICTURES IN MONTEREY CA
Monterey is FULL of scenic spots but most are crowded and can be tough to get a good picture. Since Olivia was born we’ve done family Christmas cards and every year I rack my brain to think of new spots. Here is a list of where we’ve gone and some details you should know before you go.
Riberia Beach Carmel, CA
this quiet almost private beach is big on view and low on people! Make sure to check the tide schedule for the day the beach practically disappears at high tide. Plus if you have little ones these steps are brutal to go back up so pack light on props and gear.
Toro Park and Ft Old National Monument Hwy 68
such a pretty old school California view at both of these spaces. Both are rich in history and have a ranch/farm vibe. Both require photography permits so beware if you don’t have one ranger can fine you.
Carmel State Beach or Carmel River beach.
This beach can get crowded around sunset for the view and the off-leash doggie freedom. So be prepared to walk to the edge of the beach to get the best shots.
And, one of my favorite local places to take pictures in Monterey
The back deck of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row and back deck of the Monterey Plaza Hotel. These can get crowded so you may just have to be ok with people in the background.
If you are looking for a great family photographer I highly recommend So Cute Photo. We love her work every year and she is so patient with Olivia’s meltdowns.
