Birth Story:
I can’t believe this girl has been with us for over two weeks! After 26 hours of labor, not the hard kind we never pushed and I only had two intense contractions but my body just stopped progressing, we had to go against the only thing in my birth plan (no C sections) and do emergency surgery to get her out safe. It was the scariest hour of my life. The baby was turned sideways and had become wedged in. I was terrified of surgery, the drugs, the epidural the whole thing.
Ten minutes in they hand me this crying baby (not sure who was more hysterical- me or her) and I fell instantly in love. Fertility, pregnancy, labor, birth it seemed like my body just couldn’t quite do it but here we are with this perfect little baby that makes this not so fun journey completely worth it.
I find myself staring at her all day and not wanting to put her down. My husband is madly in love and for the first time in twenty years comes home before dark just so he can spend time with her. I can’t believe all the ways she has already changed our lives. To say we are blessed and in love is an understatement.
Thank you for all of the messages and encouragement over the last few months about my birth story. I love all of my readers/followers and so many of your tips and prayers made all the difference. Many of you asked where her name comes from, Olivia is one of three names that we just kept going back to. When we saw her we knew it was the perfect name. Tomoko is the name of my Grandmother who played a very important role in my life. It is also my middle name and I hope that Olivia will continue the tradition and use the name for her first daughter.
