Yesterday I had the privilege to hop on a plane and attend the Junior League of San Diego Food & Wine Festival! It was so much fun that I can’t wait for next year. The event was at the La Jolla cove, a beautiful grassy knoll perched above the Pacific ocean. The weather was beautiful, the food was amazing and the people were fun.
I love the #JLSD Food & Wine because all the proceeds go to support local causes. For the last several years that cause is foster youth; a cause close to my heart.
Octopus salad… YUM!
Prosciutto, honey and fig pizza… amazing!
Last year there were no tables or chairs unless you went VIP; so I went VIP again. This year VIP had a signature cocktail a ginger julep that was delicious and a few signature bites.
VIP also came with a gift bag. {forgot to include in the picture the wine in the bags}
This was my FAVE… a piece of ahi on a cucumber with a dill sauce and fresh flowers. They couldn’t keep up with demand is was so delicious. {I went back for seconds!}
Sadly this year, it was all bruschetta or some kind of raw tuna… but these guys really knocked out of the park in the originality department. Bork belly bites by the Cork & Craft San Diego. YUM!!!
These were really good and original. Crawfish sliders!
Since we flew in that morning and had to wait several hours to get into our hotel room we were exhausted by the time the derby rolled around. So we headed back to the hotel to soak up a little sun and watch it from our hotel room. Luckily, our hotel room was right across the street from the event and the ocean! It was like we were still there.
