Facial Night with DoTerra

Carmel City Guide (8 of 8)

Carmel City Guide (2 of 8)

I love to treat myself to an at home facial every Friday night.  This week I had to be careful because I am prepping my skin for a big treatment next week.  That means I can’t use any harsh products or acids for five days prior to the treatment.  I was worried that my acne would flare up in those five days without my usual skincare.  So when Michelle with DoTerra contacted me about reviewing some of their oils geared towards skincare I was excited!

The lavender and melaleuca work perfectly as a powerful cleansing and purifying agent.  I used them right after washing my skin in place of a toner.  One drop of each pressed into the skin was all I used.  It smelled AMAZING!  I was worried it would burn or feel uncomfortable but it didn’t at all.  I followed up with a gentle leave-on/sleep in hydrating mask.  The facial felt so luxurious and I fell asleep right after.

In the past, I have used oils but only to make my home and spa smell great.  After a bit of research, I was surprised to learn how many uses essential oils have.   I found that a few drops of lavender pressed into the bottom of the feet will help promote healthy sleep.  Melaleuca and peppermint massaged into the scalp can help with oily hair/scalps.  Peppermint is awesome for upset stomach and I love to diffuse it during my morning meditation sessions.  It really promotes deeper breathing.   A few drops of lemon is great in a cup of water before or after a meal to aid in digestion.  I found that when paired with an SPF 50 it can help reduce the appearance of dark spots left from breakouts.

I can’t believe I went all this time without knowing how useful essential oils are!  I can’t wait to try out the lemon treatment after my skincare treatment next week.

I didn’t think you could apply it directly to skin. I thought it needed to go through a carrier. I clearly need to do some more reading up on this stuff.

Hi Liz, It depends on the oil and quality of the oil. If you have sensitive skin I would recommend putting it in a witch hazel to make a toner that way. My skin is not sensitive so 1 drop of each was fine for me. I wouldn’t use more than that.

I am not as well educated on essential oils as I would like to be. However, we have used melaleuca oil in our house hold to help with dry and injured skin. Will have to check out the other do terra products.
