A few nights ago I had an invite for a once in a lifetime experience. Vintage Property Management hosted a Below Deck party for the new season at my favorite house Bonne Chance in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I am a huge fan of the show and Chef Adrian was one of my favorites. He seemed super mellow on the show and his food was always a 10!
Bonne Chance in Carmel by the Sea
When I arrived, the house and Carmel were really showing off with stunning sunset views. This remains my dream house ever since I did a mini babymoon there two years ago. It is my first call if I ever win the lotto! 🤣I toured the house again– secretly imagining what it would be like to live there and then popped into the kitchen. It was kind of surreal to see Chef Adrian there! It is like you know this person because you watched them on TV for a season but you don’t REALLY know them.
He was super nice and exactly the same as on TV. He had a really laid back vibe and super positive energy but he was serious about the food. We had four courses plus wine and it was all delicious. The first course was a prawn on polenta with a radish salad made from three different types of radish! It was my favorite course of the night! So damn good.
Next up was a braised short rib with a mushroom and really cool yam/root vegetable side. Short ribs are one of my favorites and I don’t get them that often so I was very excited about this dish. I wish I took better notes on what each course was! The third course was a lavender crusted cod with a grain side. It was soooo good. I don’t normally care for cod and I almost licked the plate clean was so good.
We finished with dessert and a chat around the table. Adrian told us about being on the show. Things that surprised him about the process and the things he liked most. He was such a great sport with us answering all our questions about himself, the show and cooking in general. As a new Mom, this was just what I needed to get out of the house, have an adult conversation, enjoy an amazing meal and wine.
If you are ever traveling to Carmel, Ca and want somewhere unique and gorgeous to stay I recommend Bonne Chance and the team at VPM. They make the craziest of wishes happen for their client including once pulling off a surprise unicorn photoshoot for a guest! Mini unicorn with a flower crown and all! AND, if Chef Adrain is ever traveling through your town and you want an incredible meal and experience—just do it. He really created a magical night for all of us.
