For the most part, I make all of Olivia’s meals at home but for days when I don’t feel like it or haven’t got to the market yet or traveling, I heavily rely on Little Spoon. Use code LS-DORAN for $20 off your first order. The quality and texture are just like what I make at home so I don’t have any trouble getting Olivia to eat it. Now that Olivia is over 1 and eats whole foods most of the time I like to use the blends to make more solid food.
Little Spoon Lunch Idea
We love soup in our house. We eat it at least three times a week! I like to use the savory blends as a base to make soup on chilly days for Olivia. If there is any leftover I add a bit of salt and spices then eat it myself. Our favorite right now is sweet potato, apple, red bell pepper, and turmeric! So good.
I start with a few tablespoons of chicken or vegetable stock–whatever I have on hand, 1/2 baby blend I let Olivia eat the other half while I am making the soup but you could easily use the whole thing and a handful of these Japanese baby noodles. Basically traditional ramen-style noodles are cut into 1-inch strips. Just pop it all into a soup pot add a little water and bring to a low boil–turn down the heat and simmer until noodles are soft. Yesterday, I used sweet potato spiral noodles and Olivia LOVED them. I recently started adding in things like peas or small cut carrots, sweet potatoes, or green beans. I serve it to her luke warm.
Little Spoon Breakfast Idea
Every morning I make Olivia a smoothie. She is getting better at using the straw and not throwing it all on the floor! I grab ANY baby blend, a handful of oatmeal, chia, or flax seeds, and some yogurt. I use any kind I have on hand— the coconut milk yogurt is a big hit in our house. Blend it all and enjoy! Recently, I started using the new Little Spoon Boosters. Use code LS-DORAN for $20 off your first order. Olivia started swim lessons and with so many other little ones around I wanted to keep her immunity boosted. I pop one in her morning smoothie every other day while the lessons are going. These clean, all-natural powders are designed to tackle your babe’s biggest health needs, from iron deficiency to constipation and those pesky colds. They can be simply mixed into Little Spoon blends, breast milk, ice cream – you name it. The blends are currently available in Poopie Powder–to help with when poop doesn’t happen, Sniffle Shield– this is the one we are currently using and Wiz Kid– to help boost brainpower.
Little Spoon Snack Idea
If I have leftover smoothies I dump them into popsicle molds and save them for our afternoon snack. I have smaller molds that I use than the one pictured but it was from an event I attended with Betches and they are shaped like wine bottles so I didn’t want to photograph them! Pro tip: run the mold under warm water for 30 seconds and they pop right out of the container!
